Our next three high-performing college players who also happened to play in the Valley are Connor Gillispie (Charlottesville 2017), Michael Curry (Strasburg 2016), and Mark Moclair (Front Royal 2017)!
- Connor Gillispie, a sophomore righthander at VCU, has been outstanding in 2018. In 16 starts and 67 2/3 innings, Connor went 6-3, 2.66, with a 1.108 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9, and 12.4 K/9. That K/9 is from a whopping 93 strikeouts! Connor led the Rams in ERA and strikeouts, while finishing second in wins, innings, and batting average against.
- Michael Curry really broke out this year for Georgia. He’s hitting 325/401/480 in 200 at-bats, with 36 runs, 44 RBIs, 7 doubles, 8 home runs, and a 25/46 BB/K ratio. He leads his team in batting average and RBIs. As a potential catcher (he was his team’s DH for 2018), his bat should be attractive in the upcoming draft.
- Mark Moclair, a junior righthander at Tampa, keeps missing bats. In 16 games, all in relief, Mark has gone 6-2, 1.83, with 6 saves, a 0.925 WHIP, 4.7 BB/9, and huge 14.7 K/9 in 54 innings. Additionally, he’s given up just one home run all season.
Well done, guys!
