Major League Record Book: Home Runs in a Season

No one approaching Barry Bonds or anything, but here are the best major league seasons for home runs since the 2006 draft…

1 Dan Murphy Luray ’05 2016 25
2 Jason Kipnis Covington ’06-7 2016 23
3 Ryan Schimpf Luray ’08 2016 20
4 Jason Kipnis Covington ’06-7 2013 17
5 Jason Kipnis Covington ’06-7 2012 14
Dan Murphy Luray ’05 2015 14
7 Dan Murphy Luray ’05 2013 13
8 Dan Murphy Luray ’05 2009 12
9 Jon Jay Staunton ’04 2011 10
Clint Robinson Harrisonburg ’05-6 2015 10

2016 was clearly a good year for home runs, as the top three slots were all achieved in the past year. Overall, Murphy holds 4 spots, Kipnis 3, and Schimpf, Jay, and Robinson all have 1.

Brett Gardner Sighting: Brett hit 17 home runs in 2014, and 16 in 2015. Those seasons would be good for 5th and 6th places, and would push Jay and Robinson out!
