Top Hitters From 2015 Valley League Season

Happy New Year, brilliant readers!

Now that we’re finished with the starting pitchers (and 2015, for that matter), it’s time to move on to the hitters (relievers still to come).

This is the explanation I posted last year:

I choose [the top hitters] by looking at rate stats (batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS (on-base+ slugging)), and walk/strikeout ratio, and then counting stats (like doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs, etc).

I would like to stress that this list is just one person’s opinion. The lists have literally nothing to do with who might make the best pro, or who might play in the major leagues- it’s just a snapshot of how these guys performed in one summer.

As always, there are players left off the list who had very good, dare I even say excellent summers, but I’ve capped the list at 15.

Here are the last five players eliminated from the top 15, in no particular order:

  • Drew Small, Front Royal and Butler: 344/387/396, 30 runs, 53 hits, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 14 RBIs, 11/8 BB/K ratio, 14 stolen bases
  • Michael Brosseau, Waynesboro and Oakland: 298/377/430, 34 runs, 45 hits, 10 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, 23 RBIs, 14/19 BB/K, 13 stolen bases
  • Greg Lambert, Front Royal and Southern Illinois Carbondale: 318/380/426, 15 runs, 41 hits, 12 doubles, 1 triple, 16 RBIs, 12/27 BB/K, 5 stolen bases
  • Jack Schaaf, Staunton and Florida International: 296/423/378, 23 runs, 29 hits, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 14 RBIs, 19/25 BB/K, 5 stolen bases
  • Edgar Lebron, Front Royal and Lindsey Wilson: 304/394/406, 24 runs, 42 hits, 4 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, 22 RBIs, 16/29 BB/K, 18 stolen bases

Well done, guys. We will be posting the #15 hitter very soon!
