On Saturday, August 22, Guido Knudson (Woodstock 2009) made his major league debut with the Detroit Tigers!
Sure, he gave up a home run, but he also struck out 2 batters in his inaugural inning.
Knudson, who turned 26 years old this month, was a 28th round pick in the 2011 draft. He has slowly worked his way up the chain, starting in the Gulf Coast League and New York-Penn Leagues in 2011. He moved up to the Midwest League and Florida State League in 2012, and then spent the entire 2013 season back in the Midwest League.
He moved back up to the Florida State League in 2014, but spent the bulk of the year in Double-A Erie in the Eastern League. He started the 2015 season back in Erie, but was moved to Triple-A Toledo in May. And now Detroit!
He becomes the fourth former Valley Leaguer to make his major league debut in 2015; he joins Adam Liberatore (Waynesboro 2007-08), Jack Leathersich (Haymarket 2009), and Scott Copeland (Staunton 2007).
Congratulations on making it to the Show, Guido!
