Let’s take a look at the five starts in the minor leagues by Valley Leaguers last night:

  • Matt Benedict (Haymarket 2009-10) for AA Altoona: Excellent start! 6 IP, 5 hits, 1 earned run, 1 BB, 3 K’s, win,

    6-1, game score of 60. Matt’s now 4-4, 3.75 in 48 total innings in 2015.

  • Elih Villanueva (Luray 2007) for AA Bowie: Another great Double-A start for Elih! 8 IP, 5 hits, 1 unearned run, 1 BB, 6 K’s, loss, 1-0, game score of 75. Elih has dominated Double-A over 8 starts, going 4-4, 2.77 in 48.2 innings. Triple-A has been a different story, though.
  • Sam Howard (Staunton 2012) for A Asheville: 5 IP, 7 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned, 0 BB, 5 K’s, loss, 5-3, game score of 44. Sam is now 2-6, 4.17 in 45.1 innings in 2015.
  • Chris Pike (Harrisonburg 2012-13) for A Bowling Green: A little wild, but still a good start: 5 IP, 4 hits, 1 earned run, 5 BB, 3 K’s, win, 3-1, game score of 53. Chris is 6-1, 2.72 in 53 innings thus far.
  • Tyler Thornburg (Winchester 2008) for AAA Colorado Springs: 6 IP, 7 hits, 1 earned run, 3 BB, 7 K’s, loss, 4-1, game score of 58. Tyler is 1-2, 3.98 in 40.2 innings pitched in Triple-A!

  • Scott Copeland (Staunton 2007) for AAA Buffalo
  • Matthew Shepherd (Waynesboro 2009) for A Lake Elsinore
  • Chris Devenski (Woodstock 2011) for AA Corpus Christi
  • Brandon Sinnery (Winchester 2009) for AA Mobile
  • Reed Garrett (New Market 2013) for A High Desert (This is Reed’s second start in High-A since his callup from Low-A Hickory!)
