Minor League Starters Thursday-Saturday

Thursday, May 14

  • Taylor Hill (Winchester 2008) for AAA Syracuse: 8 IP, 5 hits, 1 earned run, 0 BB, 4 K’s, win, 4-1, game score of 72. Taylor is now 3-1, 4.14 in 41.1 innings.
  • Scott Copeland (Staunton 2007) for AAA Buffalo: 6 Ip, 5 hits, 4 earned runs, 2 BB, 4 K’s, win, 6-4, game score of 48. Scott is 3-1, 2.43 in 37 innings.
  • Sam Howard (Staunton 2012) for A Asheville: 6.1 IP, 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned, 2 BB, 8 K’s, loss, 3-2, game score of 67. Sam’s record isn’t great, at 1-4, but he lowered his ERA to 4.60 in 29.1 innings with the outing.

Friday, May 15

  • Max Povse (Staunton 2013) for A Rome: 4 IP, 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB, 4 K’s, win, 6-0, game score of 61. Max has struggled with injuries in 2015 (I can’t discover what, exactly), but has still gone 1-1, 2.29 in 19.2 innings.
  • Chris Pike (Harrisonburg 2012-13) for A Bowling Green: 7 IP, 2 hits, 2 earned runs, 0 BB, 7 K’s, win, 3-2, game score of 72. Chris is now 5-1 in his first six starts, along with a 2.91 ERA.

Saturday, May 16

  • Chad Kuhl (New Market 2012) for AA Altoona: 6 IP, 4 hits, 0 runs, 4 BB, 5 K’s, loss, 2-1, game score of 65. A few too many walks in this one, but you can’t argue with no runs. Chad is now 2-0, 2.48 in an even 40 innings pitched.
  • Austin Chrismon (Starsburg 2013) for A Quad Cities: 5 IP, 6 hits, 3 earned runs, 1 BB, 0 K’s, loss, 4-3, game score of 42. Austin is 4-1, 2.65 in 34 innings in 2015!
  • Matt Benedict (Haymarket 2009-10) for AAA Indianapolis: Call-up alert! Matt made his start last night in Triple-A, not High-A Bradenton, where he has been most of the season. Matt went 5 innings and allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and struck out 2. His team lost the game 2-1, and his game score was 52. Will he stay in Triple-A?
  • Alex Wimmers (Luray 2008) for AA Chattanooga: 5 IP, 5 hits, 5 earned runs, 1 BB, 9 K’s, win, 10-9, game score of 45. Alex is now 2-0, 6.19 in 32 innings. Sure, too many runs, but 9 strikeouts in impressive. More impressive, though, is that Alex seems to be healthy; he’s made 6 starts in a row now.
  • Brandon Sinnery (Winchester 2009) for AA Mobile: 3 IP, 10 hits, 7 earned runs, 4 BB, 2 K’s, loss, 10-9, game score of 9. Not a good outing for Brandon, but he’s still 4-1, 4.15 in 39 total innings.
  • Drew Rucinski (Luray 2009-10) for AAA Salt Lake: Another tough one. 3 IP, 5 hits, 9 earned runs, 4 BB, 1 K, loss, 11-1, game score of 10. Drew is now 0-3, 8.33 in 27 innings.

  • Elih Villanueva (Luray 2007) for AAA Norfolk- Elih has been called up from AA Bowie!
