#10 Hitter: Nick Sinay, Front Royal

Time to get back to business!

Nick Sinay Front Royal 2014All Things Valley League’s 10th best hitter in the 2014 season is none other than Front Royal’s Nick Sinay, from the University at Buffalo.

One thing is clear: Nick was an on-base machine in 2014. He reached base at a .539 clip, which is the best OBP in the Valley League since at least 2004. His overall stats look like this: 341/539/365 in 126 at-bats, with 43 runs, 43 hits, 3 doubles, 10 RBIs, an amazing 35/21 BB/K ratio, and 28 stolen bases. He also went 4-11 with 3 stolen bases in Front Royal’s 3 playoff games. As mentioned, Nick finished 1st in the league in OBP, but he also finished 2nd in stolen bases, and 8th in batting average.

The rising junior has done well at Buffalo, too. As a freshman in 2013, he hit 280/368/280, but it was a small sample size of 50 at-bats. He batted 177 times in 2014 as a sophomore, and hit 254/442/322, with 45 hits, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, a 36/45 BB/K ratio, 31 stolen bases, and a whopping 25 hit-by-pitches (ouch).

It’s been a long time since the Valley saw a guy on base as much as Nick was in 2014. Congratulations on your excellent season!
