  • Strasburg 3, Aldie 1: Covington didn’t play, so with Aldie’s loss, Strasburg is now alone in 6th place at 17-19. Aldie is 16-20, a full 2.0 games in front of the group aiming for the last playoff spot.
  • Waynesboro 5, Winchester 4: The Generals are now in 3rd place, 1.5 games behind Front Royal. The Royals are still 2.0 games behind Aldie and 8th place.
  • New Market 10, Front Royal 9 (10 innings): The Cardinals slip into 2nd place, .5 games behind the Turks. The Rebels are still 2.5 games behind the 8th seed.

Thomas Vitaletti New Market 2014Our HOD did a little bit of everything for the Rebels in their extra-inning win over Front Royal. It’s Thomas Vitaletti, from Christopher Newport, who went 3-6, with 3 runs, 2 RBIs, a home run, and a stolen base. Vitaletti, who played for two years at George Mason before transferring to Newport, is now hitting 225/274/326 is 89 at-bats, with a 4/11 BB/K ratio.

Our POD is Waynesboro’s Will Lowman, from Kennesaw State! Will did it in relief, throwing 4 shutout, no-hit innings againstWill Lowman Kennesaw St 2014 Winchester, while allowing 2 walks and striking out 6. Oddly enough, Will was the pitcher of the day exactly one month ago- June 19! Anyway, Will is now 1-3, 4.76 this season so far, with 12 hits, 13 walks, and 20 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched.
