Power Rankings #2

I think today would be a good day to look at power rankings again, since there were no games played last night. If you need to read my disclaimer again, please go back to the post on June 19– the first power rankings of the season.

Power Rankings #2!

Record, hitting stats, runs scored-runs allowed, ERA, previous ranking (from June 19), and then a quick comment about what’s going on.

frontroyal 091. Front Royal Cardinals: 18-8, 267/370/368, 160-106, 2.69, Previously #1: Hard to top that on-base percentage and team ERA. Sinay .368, McCain .364, Newman .350 with 5 home runs. Kevin Becker-Menditto is 2-0, 0.64, with 3 saves in the bullpen.

2. Harrisonburg Turks: 16-7, 272/348/389, 127-107, 3.39, #6: The Turks rise the most from last time. Rose, Spitz lead the hitters; the bullpen is a real strength, with Tyler Brown and Logan Onda.

3. Waynesboro Generals: 15-9, 242/344/300, 104-93, 3.28, #2: Cole Gruber hitting a cool .377; team is really led by a solid array of starters- with Jeff Schank (3-0, 2.01) leading the charge.

4. Staunton Braves: 11-11, 311/388/403, 155-127, 4.15, #5: The hitting just looks incredible. Two guys over .400 (McNeill, Thomas), two more over .350 (Vasquez, Rodriguez). Will the Braves get enough pitching?

5. Charles Town Cannon: 14-11, 270/355/370, 145-133, 4.05, #4: Stephen Kerr hitting .340; Austin Stephens has put up 5 solid starts.

6. Covington Lumberjacks: 12-12, 270/346/351, 141-132, 4.24, #3: ‘Jacks fall three spots; Edwards (.380), O’Neil (.351) lead hitters; team has 59 stolen bases; same issue as Staunton- will the team get enough pitching?

7. Strasburg Express: 10-13, 256/346/326, 110-120, 4.12, #7: Anthony Payne leads the hitters; the walk rate of the entire staff in concerning.

8. Aldie Senators: 11-12, 258/342/328, 97-127, 3.67, #9: Giacchino, Vrbanic lead hitters; David Munson has 20 K’s in only 11 2/3 IP.

9. Winchester Royals: 10-15, 240/320/309, 102-131, 3.88, #11: The Royals have a solid bullpen, led by Charles Cantrell. Royals need better starts. Jerry Downs still crushing it.

10. Woodstock: 6-17, 242/328/290, 95-130, 3.38, #10: Team lacking power (4 home runs)! Shockley, Herstine, Ostner, and Munn all have ERAs under 2.00.

11. New Market Rebels: 8-16, 221/344/281, 104-135, 4.37, #8: Rebs sink to the bottom, as does their slugging percentage; all team home runs have been hit by Darian Carpenter.
