Taylor Hill Makes Major League Debut!

Taylor Hill June 25 2014 WashingtonTaylor Hill (Winchester 2008) has reached the apex!

Joining a rather lengthy list of Valley League alumni who have been called up to the majors this year, Taylor made his debut on June 25th against Milwaukee. He threw 3 1/3 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 earned runs, a walk, and a strikeout. (One can’t help but wonder if Tyler Thornburg, also a Royal in 2008 and current member of the Brewers’ bullpen, congratulated Taylor on making the Show.)

One thing is for sure: Taylor earned it. His stats in Triple-A this year were nothing short of amazing. Taylor pitched in 15 games (14 of them starts), and went 9-2, 1.92, with 84 hits, only 9 walks, and 65 strikeouts in 93 2/3 innings pitched. That 0.9 BB/9 is pretty astounding.

(Of course, we at ATVL can say we saw this coming, right, since Taylor was the #6 starting pitcher in the league back in ’08?)

Anyway, congratulations, Taylor! One more makes the Big Time!
